Usbu Zainab (Zainab fingers)



All you need

1 packet samosa/spring roll pastry, thawed
1 box cream cheese
oil for deep frying
2 tbsps all purpose flour
4 tbsps water
1/2 cup al alali Icing Sugar
1/2 cup water
3 crushed cardamom seeds (optional)
1 tbsp lemon/lime juice

Directions

  •  In a bowl, mix flour and water until creamy texture
  •  Cut the cheese block into 1 cm x 5 cm pieces
  •  Cut the square pastry sheet in half
  •  Place a piece of the cheese into the pastry, fold and roll
  •  Seal the sides with the flour water mix
  •  Deep fry the rolls until golden brown on both sides
  •  To prepare the syrup, boil water and sugar on medium heat, until slightly thick, add lime juice and cardamom seeds, simmer for 2 minutes
  •  Remove the cardamom seeds, dip the rolls into the sugar syrup
  •  Serve and enjoy!
